David Beckham made his full debut with PSG on Wednesday as he showed that his aging legs can still last the pace. Although he did not score any goal but his impact was really felt. Beckham lasted almost throughout the whole match and Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 2 goals, ending the match with a 2-0 victory once again for PSG.
Last Sunday when PSG played against Marseille, Beckham came in as a substitute in the 76th minute and helped to set up the 2nd goal for Ibrahimovic. Playing again with the same club, he took the field as a midfielder and played for 86minutes. Beckham said, “I am very happy to last 86 minutes. I enjoyed it, I felt good. I have been working hard for the last few weeks. It helps to have players around me who work the way they do and play the way they do.”
The former England captain was positioned just in front of the back four, he kept PSG’s midfield ticking over with some neat passes.
“We did not need to wait until tonight to know that he is a quality passer and that he is dangerous from free kicks,” Marseille coach Elie Baup said.
PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti said. “There are a lot of things he can show us his experience, his passing, his aggression. I don’t think he played like a 37-year-old tonight.”
